We have been away for a while but decided to put up a new post. Josiah has changed so much. Here are a few pictures. He is 16 1/2 months old now. He just had tubes put in his ears yesterday. He is doing fine now. These are pictures from this afternoon. I hope to update more often but I can't make promises. Have a good one.

We had pictures made of Josiah and Nathanael today. They are both so cute. Sara Jewell from our Sunday school class is the one who took the pictures. She does an awesome job and is great with the kids. We have a lot more but here is a sampling.

This morning I got Josiah up and dressed in his UK clothes. He wanted to wear this today since Kentucky plays tonight. I'm starting to think that blue is his favorite color.

My mom and dad gave Josiah this outfit. If you can't read it the shirt is says "Daddy's cute recruit". About 3 weeks ago this outfit swallowed him. Now it fits great and probably won't fit in another week or two.

This is Nathanael David Oakes. Ashley and Jason brought Nathanael over a few days ago. He is beginning to smile on purpose over the past couple of weeks. He is really cute. I think he weighed 12 pounds as of last week and he is 8 weeks old.

Melissa took these pictures today of Josiah. He looks really cute even if it is a UofL hat on his head.
Melissa had some tummy time with Josiah yesterday while I was gone to work. His little neck is getting stronger. He is also beginning to pick up some weight. He weighed 7 pounds and 9 ounces as of yesterday. That is a 15 ounce gain in 5 days.

I was doing some work on the computer and Flip decided to hop up in the chair and peek his head around the corner to keep and eye on me.
The other night the Chris, Katie, and Kaden Gaither came over to our house. Kaden thought Flips bed looked comfortable so he decided to make it his for a little while. Flip is behind him watching his every move.

We gave Josiah a bath the other day. He is beginning to get use to the water. I think the key is making sure the water is good and warm. He hates the cold water.

A few days ago we went to Louisville to eat with Melissa's Granddaddy (Rusty Carpenter). He really enjoys holding Josiah. We took Josiah to his first Mexican restaurant that night.

Josiah and Tucker Keene

Last night some of our friends (Tiffany and Wes) came over to meet Josiah and deliver a meal. It was great spending some time with them. They brought their son Tucker. As you can see in the picture he is a lot bigger than Josiah. I can't imagine Josiah being this big. Just to clarify, Josiah is not offically three weeks until Sunday and Tucker is not officially 15 weeks for another couple of days.

Josiah was hanging out with me on the bed while Mommy was in the other room. I think he enjoyed being on his belly.

On Tuesday we gave Josiah a bath. One of Melissa's friends gave us these hooded towels for little Josiah. He seems to like them. They were keeping him warm after a miserably cold sponge bath.

When I came home from school on Wednesday I found little Josiah dressed in his I love Mommy outfit. He was looking really cute. The pants are still a little bit big but he is growing into them. We took him to the Doctor on Tuesday and he is now weighing 6 pounds 7 ounces. This is a half pound gain in less than a week. Before long he will weight 20 pounds.

On Tuesday we had a snow day in Shelby County. We were so thankful because we were up for several hours the night before trying to get Josiah back to sleep. We were able to spend some time hanging out on the bed with Josiah. He has a few people to say hello to.

My parents came to town over the weekend and brought a gift from a good friend of my moms. She is a graduate of Murray State and didn't want Josiah to have only Kentucky and Louisville clothes. I really like this as well because I am a graduate of Murray State. He is going to have a hard time deciding what college to cheer for.

My aunt and uncle gave Josiah this really cool swing that has a giraffe on it. Josiah appeared to be looking directly at the giraffe. I think he is really going to enjoy the swing.

Louisville plays tonight so Melissa wanted Josiah to be ready for the game. I think he feels a little awkward wearing this since he is a Kentucky fan at heart. I guess he will have to cheer for both like his Daddy.

When we set out to decorate Josiah's room we didn't know it would end up with a bunch of monkeys all over it. I guess you could say the theme is Monkeys. We hope he likes them when he is a bit older. We have had a lot of people to give us these items. We are so thankful.

Josiah got a couple of hats yesterday so we let his cousin wear the Louisville hat. I can see this being an intense rivalry someday. UK vs. UL. It is going to be difficult convincing Josiah to be a UK fan. His mom is in love with Louisville. Will see what happens.

Josiah Jelks Midkiff was born on January 10, 2010. What a blessing from God. We have been having such a great time with him in the few short days that he has been in this world. I am posting a few pictures that were taken over the past two days. He crossed his feet while Melissa was feeding him and thought it was cute so we took a picture. The picture with very little clothes on is him sitting by the window trying to catch some sun rays. He has been a little Jaundice so the Doctor to told us to put him beside a window. I hope you have enjoyed the pictures as much as I have enjoyed taking them. More to come later.

A Baby Changes Everything

As you know, Melissa and I are expecting our first child in February. Last year we heard the song, "A baby changes everything" by Faith Hill. It sits a little closer to home this year. Tonight we had our school Christmas Party. It was a lot of fun. The party was at Mr. Mike Zoellers house. This is a picture of him and the ornament that he received playing "Dirty Santa". It is a snow woman with a dress on. Pretty cute! Only one week left of school before the break. The semester has gone by so quickly.

Friday at Panera Bread

It is Friday afternoon and I am sitting in a Panera Bread sipping on some hot chocolate. This was a good week at school but I am always looking forward to the weekend. In about 3 months and 1 week I am going to be a DAD. I can't believe it! The time has gone by so quickly. It has been a fun adventure so far. I am sure the months ahead will be challenging. I am up for the challenge.

I hope this site will be good for my friends and family to view pictures and video footage of little Josiah. Here is my first attempt to add a picture to a post. This is obviously a picture of the arch in St. Louis. We were there last year visiting friends. We love to travel together.

This is my first time ever blogging. I am looking forward to sharing my family's life on this blog. We are excited about our new adventures. We just moved into our house two weeks ago and Lord willing we will be having a child in February. We are also apart of a launch team for a church plant that begins this Sunday.
